Department of Textile Technology

About Department

Department of Textile Technology started in 1943 offering ‘Diploma in Textile Manufacturing (DTM)’ with two main branches namely, ‘Spinning’ and ‘Weaving’ with 60 seats. With continued development and excellence it has grown in terms of faculty, competent staff, infrastructure, course content, industrial interaction, research and development, alumni net-work, placement and student strength. At present, it offers Undergraduate program (B Tech) to 60 students and Post Graduate program (M Tech) to 18 students. Additionally it is also an approved centre for doctoral research leading to degree of PhD.

In addition to being an excellent seat of learning it fosters research and development in the field of textiles. Curriculum of each course is so designed as to develop engineering skills amongst students for the present day needs of textile industry. The department is well equipped with laboratories encompassing Yarn Manufacturing, Fabric Manufacturing and Textile Testing. The faculty and staff members, well qualified with varied specialization, have strong passion to impart quality education to its students.

TIT has constituted Department Advisory Committee (DAC) for each branch of Engineering and Business Management Department. The (DAC) for Textile Technology includes eminent academicians and professionals from their respective fields having great experience to guide faculty and students to achieve excellence.
