Textile Technology

Textile industry is one of the oldest industries in India. In today's fashion scenario, textiles play an important role as costumes reflect ones personality. When we take the case of textiles, it not only include woven, knitted or printed fabrics used for making clothes but also materials used for furnishing, upholstery, carpets, parachutes, tents, lace etc. Textiles have industrial uses as well like firefighting suits, shuttle space suit, in carbon fiber composite rocket exhausts, and even in nose cones for NASA. Production of this enormous variety of textiles necessitates the need for a career in Textile Engineering.

Textile Engineering is also known as Textile Technology which is that discipline of engineering which deals with the manufacturing of textiles. A textile engineer will have to work with fibers, fabrics and a few other textile materials and account for improving the current textile products as well as create new innovative ones. The economic scope and importance of textiles extends far beyond the textile industry itself and has an impact upon just about every sphere of human activity. Textile Engineering is therefore very important for the development of technology for the benefit of the society.

Textile engineering ensures a bright career for the students, as there is no denying the fact that neither the demand nor the supply of the textiles is ever going to be defoliated, especially in a country like India. Secondly, the only country in the world with such diverse cultures and traditions is India. It is this varied style of dressing by Indians, which improves the scope of textile engineering in India. We can say that Textile industry is one of India’s fastest growing industries and the companies are catering to international and domestic markets. Keeping these facts into consideration, Textile Engineering can be categorized as a good course for students who aspire to make a bright carrier. The scope of Textile engineering in India has opened up a lot of employment opportunities as well as job prospects.
